Going Digital: VisitGuernsey’s new Walking E-Brochure

20. March 2012

We are pleased to announce that our 2012 walking campaign is going from strength to strength ahead of the approaching tourist season. Earlier this year, we cemented the campaign with the launch of our new walking e-brochurewhich can be found on the VisitGuernsey website.

With a variety of coastal and rural scenic walking paths all over the island, walking is one of the best ways to discover everything that Guernsey has to offer. The walking e-brochure showcases these strengths by bringing together inspiring ideas, images of the island’s natural beauty and everything our visitors need to know about planning a walking holiday in Guernsey.

Crucially, the digital format has allowed us to give potential visitors an engaging experience including features such as videos and interactive information tabs. It has also given us the opportunity to integrate our walking campaign with our online presence through our website, our blog and our social media sites on Facebook and Twitter. This has already proved very effective and will ensure that the campaign gets maximum exposure on an international level.

We hope you enjoy browsing the walking e-brochure and look forward to bringing you news of developments in our walking campaign in the future.

Guernsey on VisitBritain TV

1. March 2012

As part of the British Isles, VisitGuernsey has been invited to join a VisitBritain campaign to promote the islands. Visitors to the VisitBritain TV home page can find Guernsey featured in the Partner Channel section here.

The online campaign is designed so that potential visitors, from the UK domestic market, Europe and International visitors considering a holiday within or to the British Isles, can go onto the website to read about us and watch a film depicting Guernsey and her sister islands of Herm, Sark and Alderney. They can also see various shorter videos which show what the island has to offer, including such delights as exploring our rich heritage, walking and the award-winning flowers of St Peter’s.

Links to the VistGuernsey website, Facebook, Twitter and Package deals mean that potential visitors can gather all the information they need in order to book a holiday or short break.

Tony Dawson, Marketing Manager, Commerce and Employment said: “A key advantage of promoting the island in this manner is that visitors to the site obtain a much better visual impression and can see the whole breadth of what they are able to do once they get to the Islands of Guernsey. Digital and video in terms of marketing and consumer engagement is increasing and it is important that VisitGuernsey promotions embrace this medium”.

VisitGuernsey launches UK social media strategy

29. April 2010

Commerce and Employment Department has launched a new online VisitGuernsey communications strategy, which targets UK visitors as well as potential visitors from Europe and overseas via social media.

VisitGuernsey’s core strategy includes a branded blogging platform, Facebook page and Twitter feed. Supporting the three key areas are a Flickr photo-stream and YouTube channel.

Said Chris Elliott, Director of Marketing and Tourism: “The time is right to introduce an integrated social media strategy for both our loyal repeat visitor base as well as prospective first time visitors to the Island.

“Our new social media platforms allow us to be more accessible to our audience, and build relationships with them via the networks that they are already using. Key to our approach is of course enabling conversation and interaction, as well as providing stories, images and information that we think will resonate with people.

“Our social media strategy may also encourage interest from a new audience who may not be familiar with our classical PR and marketing work.

“A key focus for us will be to introduce people to Guernsey’s personality, its natural beauty, the people, quirks and history that make it a special place to visit. The Guernsey community is passionate about its Island and this is an opportunity for them to buy into what we are doing and share their hobbies and thoughts so that we can tell prospective visitors what a fantastic place Guernsey is”
