Flower Power for meetings from Conference Guernsey - colour and scent boost productivity.
Flower Power for meetings from Conference Guernsey promotes incorporating flowers into business events for more innovative thinking and greater productivity. The islands mild climate is host to at least 500 wildflower varieties and 50 cultivated types at any one time.
Psychologists suggest that peoples idea generation, creative performance and problem-solving skills are improved in environments that include flowers and plants.*
Conference Guernsey can create a brand or event-specific floral profile which can be presented as traditional, contemporary or informal arrangements. A menu of a dozen recommended blooms to match different business situations is available. Colour choice affects the release of neurotransmitters which determine mood. For example, red stimulates adrenal glands which boosts energy, yellow lightwaves help decision-making, and indigo irises reduce anxiety. Blue flowers are recommended for delegate bedrooms to trigger melotonin production for better sleep.
Certain varieties may also be appropriate because of their symbolic meaning. Freesias are associated with trust, clematis with intellectual ability, daffodils with respect, and bluebells with loyalty.
Highly-scented types are recommended for training courses where the smell of flowers increases learning speed. Guided wildflower walks are available pre- and post-meeting.
Comments Jason Moriarty, for Conference Guernsey, Studies have shown that flowers can improve performance, and with 500 wildflower varieties blooming in January alone Guernsey is the ideal place for organisers to try flower power.
