First wave of Heritage Festival events confirmed

Head over to our website for details on the first events confirmed for the 2019 Heritage Festival! Taking place from 19th April – 10th May with the theme of, ‘Guernsey Encounters – Throughout the Ages’, this popular festival will allow visitors to experience something refreshingly different as they gain insight into Guernsey’s diverse roots.

Here are just a few examples of some of the events on offer in addition to guided walks, bunker visits, talks, exhibitions, live performances and much more:

• Treading a Victorian Pathway – a free Victorian themed family fun day with live music, games, food stalls and crafts to celebrate the bicentenary of Queen Victoria’s birth;
• Golden Guernsey Goats - discover the life and history of the island’s indigenous rare goat breed, have a go at feeding and sample locally produced cheeses;
• Pork, Walk & Talk – meet locally reared pigs, hear accounts of farming during the Occupation, walk through country lanes to coastal German fortifications and enjoy fine Guernsey gin;
• The ‘Hidden Shrine’ which was a former searchlight bunker built during WWII in Guernsey will have exclusive opening dates during the festival;
• Ancients and Onwards… Guernsey Through the Eras – a fascinating cycle tour exploring Guernsey’s prehistoric, medieval, wartime and industrial eras.
