Tourism Ideathon Winners

VisitGuernsey teamed up with Startup Guernsey to host the first ever Guernsey Tourism Ideathon on the 14th & 15th November at Moores Hotel, aimed at stimulating innovation and engaging the local community in our tourism sector.

11 teams entered a range of categories, sponsored by Sarnia Hotels, PwC, TPA, Vivid and JT, with a prize awarded for the most innovative and practical tourism idea within each of five categories:  “Modern Traditional“, “All weather”, “Victor Hugo”, “Instagrammable Moments” and “Pure Innovation”.  Winning ideas included proposals for a “Guernsey Revival” event, a Victor Hugo “Man on a bench” statue, a Victor Hugo visitor centre, “Guernsey emojis” along with a Virtual Reality attraction.  Lucky winners each took home a £1,000 prize money, along with a mix of sponsor “consultancy hours”, to help them launch their tourism idea.

The event was attended by mix of contestants, States employees (from VisitGuernsey, Startup Guernsey, Environment and Planning Services, Education, Sport and Culture), States members, along with Deputy Dawn Tindall, tourism lead and member of the Committee for Economic Development.
