Guernsey welcomes new ultra luxury cruise ship, Silver Dawn

A plaque exchange ceremony took place on board Silversea Cruise Line’s, Silver Dawn.

The ship’s captain was joined by representatives from the States of Guernsey, VisitGuernsey, Guernsey Harbours, St Peter Port Constables and local shipping agents taking part in the exchange. The Guernsey delegation were given a tour of the ship and its facilities after exchanging plaques to mark the special occasion of the ship visiting St Peter Port for the first time.  

The ultra-luxury ship, which joined the Silversea fleet in 2022, brought nearly 600 passengers to St Peter Port on Monday.  

It boasts eight dining options including restaurant, Terrain whereby the carefully curated evening menu presents local food dishes including Bean Jar, Gauche Melee and Guernsey Goats cheese tart whilst docked in Guernsey. 

Guernsey is expecting a total of 95 cruise ships through the 2023 season with 12 of these being inaugural visits. 

Visit Guernsey’s Marketing Manager, Chloe Steadman said:

‘We are always delighted to welcome new ships into Guernsey waters, and we are particularly pleased to welcome Silver Dawn.'

'With our strategy to encourage more premium ships to Guernsey, its significant to see Silversea which specialises in luxury and indulgent experiences, visit five times this year.’
